Expert Contributor at Casino.ca. I test online casinos the way a UX researcher tests a product: screen by screen, before you play.

The print

I studied Interaction Design at the University of Waterloo, and my first job in the industry was quality assurance: three years testing software for a sports betting developer, finding the bugs before customers did.

From there I moved to a digital product testing agency in Toronto as a UX specialist, running usability tests on websites and apps for clients across the country.

Today I am an Expert Contributor at Casino.ca, focused on Ontario's regulated market. I test how a casino really works on desktop and mobile, check its licence and compare its bonuses, so players know what they are getting before they sign up.

What I test

Every review starts with a test plan. These are the four things on mine.

  1. 01

    Desktop and mobile navigation

Sign-up, deposit, finding the game, withdrawing: timed and repeated on phone and desktop.

  2. 02

    Licence verification

Is the operator registered with the AGCO and live with iGaming Ontario? I check the registers, not the logo in the footer.

  3. 03

    Bonus comparison

Wagering, game weighting, expiry dates and caps, set side by side so the real value shows.

  4. 04

    Player experience

Support response times, verification steps and the small frictions that decide whether a site is pleasant to use.

Off the clock

Trails and landscapes

Most weekends I am on a mountain bike somewhere outside Toronto, on trails that are far less forgiving than any lobby menu.

I always carry a camera. Landscape photography is the other habit: waiting for the light, shooting the same scene again, keeping only the frame that works. It is not that different from testing.
